Buxton Carnival
Saturday 12th July 2025
The Carnival procession will start at 2pm, but the bus stops on Buxton Market Place and Terrace Road will be closed from 1:40pm.
Services 58, 61, 62, 76, 77, 185, 186, 190, 199, 442, Trans Peak, will operate as followed.
During the Carnival Procession (from 2pm)
- Skyline 199 to Manchester Airport, service 190 to Shallcross & service 62 to Castleton will start/terminate on Fairfield Road (outside Number 2, ABS Accountancy).
- Transpeak services to Derby will divert from its normal route in Buxton but will call at an additional bus stop on Bakewell Road (Ashwood Dale).
- The last 76 service to Brownedge will operate at 11:00 and the last 77 service to Sherwood Road will operate at 12:00.
- Service 185 Fairfield - Harpur Hill, will be on diversion for the duration of the Carnival Procession.
- Service 58 to Macclesfield at 14:25 and 15:25 trips will depart from the bus stop on Ashwood Dale, Bakewell Road (A6).
- Service 61 to Glossop departing at 14:00 and 15:00 will leave from the bus stop on Manchester Road, opposite Buxton & Leek College.
- Service 442 to Ashbourne at 14:20 and 15:35hrs will depart from the bus stop on Ashwood Dale, Bakewell Road. (A6).
After the Carnival Procession and Station Road has re-opened, buses will pick up at Buxton Rail Station.
Opposite Buxton Rail Station – (The Green Butterfly Bus Stop)
- 61 service to New Mills, Hayfield & Glossop.
- 108 service to Leek. (D&G Buses)
- 185 service to Harpur Hill
- 58 service to Macclesfield (after serving the Iceland stop)
- 442 service to Ashbourne (after serving the Iceland stop)
- Trans Peak service to Bakewell and Derby (after serving the Iceland stop).
Outside Buxton Rail Station (The Yellow Butterfly Bus Stop)
- 185 service to Fairfield.
- 190 service to Chinley and Shallcross.
- 199 service to Chapel, Whaley, Stockport, and Manchester Airport.
Please note:
The bus stops on Station Road will be marked with Green and Yellow Butterflies in order to aid identification.
From 13:40, no buses will serve Terrace Road or Buxton Market Place, until the first thing Sunday morning.
Affected Services:
Road Closure: Church Street, St. John Street, Dig Street Ashbourne
Date: Monday 10th March to Monday 8th September 2025
Service affected: 441 & 442
Church Street, St. John Street, and Dig Street will be closed to traffic from Monday 10th March to Monday 8th September 2025 for major highway improvement works.
Services towards Buxton should depart Ashbourne Bus Station (King Edward Street), turn left at traffic lights into Station Road (A515), and left at second traffic lights into Park Road. Forward Park Road, into Cockayne Road, left into Hall Lane (this road is temporarily an access only northbound one-way road with exemptions for service buses). From Hall Lane, turn left into King Street (B5053), then right into Buxton Road (A515) and pick up normal route.
Services towards Ashbourne are not affected.
Please note: The following stops will not be served (direction of Buxton)
- Church Street stop on Church Street, opposite Creative Hair
- Victoria Square stop on A515, outside Drink Zone
- Market Place stop on Buxton Road
