Wellington Road South (Between Exchange Street and Heaton Lane) (24th July until 7th October)

Posted Thursday, 13th July 2017 at 08:57 AM

From Monday 24th July essential repair works will take place on the bridge that carries the A6 in Stockport town centre between Exchange Street (Garrick Theatre) and Heaton Lane. This means that this section of the road will need to be closed to traffic, in both directions, for up to 12 weeks. The works are needed to address current maintenance issues and prolong the bridge’s life.

The transpeak service to Manchester will divert from the A6 at Exchange Street, continue through Stockport Bus Station, Mersey Square and return to the A6 near Debenhams.

Due to the increase in diverted traffic in central Stockport, it is anticipated that the Skyline 199 and 392 services will be delayed.

Road Closure A6 Buxton Road (Mill Lane) (extended until December 2017)

Posted Monday, 3rd April 2017 at 09:10 AM

From the 18th April 2017, Buxton Road (A6) from Norbury Hollow Road to Mill Lane will be closed to allow works to proceed on the A6 Manchester Airport Relief Road.

Services will be diverted onto a newly built road that will take traffic away from High Lane to Hazel Grove Golf Club where it will meet up with Buxton Road (A6).

Whilst this diversion is in operation we will not be able to serve the bus stops by Norbury Hollow Road (Thai Fusion), Mill Lane (Simpsons Corner) or Hazel Grove Golf Club (southbound).

The nearest alternative stops will be at Threaphurst Lane and Hazel Grove Golf Club (northbound). The closest bus stop for Hazel Grove Golf Club will be the stop opposite Hazel Grove Police Station.

Update 9/8/17: these roadworks will now continue until December 2017, not 4th September as initially reported.
